About Me and My Experimental Airplane Project

So who is this  experimental aircraft builder with an artistic flair?

My name is Glen Porter, and I grew up in the Southern California area.  I have always enjoyed drawing aircraft and even designed one and did the engineering required to build and fly it.

After high school, I entered the Marine Corps as a Private and then retired some 24 years later as the Executive Officer of a Marine Corps Squadron.  During that time, I never lost my interest in drawing but had little time to pursue it while collecting several advanced degrees.

Now 44 years after joining the Marine Corps, I have the time and the interest to again create art that has both form and purpose.  While at the same time building another Experimental Airplane.

After much thought about where I live and how our runway is not aligned to the wind I've opted not to build a Storch type aircraft.  I think it's a great airplane but just not suited to a runway that is seldom in agreement with the wind direction.

I think I've decided on what to build but will hold off making that all important decision for a few more weeks.

My  Philosophy

I enjoy what I now have the time and opportunity to do.  Each metal art project that I create is a labor of love.  I strive to create metal art that is extremely acurate.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

My Workshop

A picture of the workshop would be boring.  So I'll tell you that I use CNC cutters to cut the shapes out, then do everything else by hand.  What's more imortant is where my inspriation comes from.  Great sunsets, coyotes walking by the house, our quail and road runners in the late afternoon and even a bobcat on ocassion.
